Snowkiting in Venosta Valley

Action on the Lake Reschen

While snowboarding and skiing are the mass-market sports thanks to modern lift facilities and numerous ski resorts, in snowkiting, the ultimate freedom of gliding is what counts.

The Lake Reschen in Venosta Valley is one of the most hip snowkiting areas. Thanks to its altitude of 1,500 metres above sea level, from December to March it is one of the snow-safest top spots in the snow kite scene.
On the 6 km long and nearly 1 km wide Lake Reschen, snow-kiters achieve top speeds, as long as the towing kites pick up speed in the famous Venosta Valley wind. Due to its high altitude and size, the Lake Reschen freezes completely in winter and can with a 40 cm thick layer of ice be safely crossed. In that regard, the Lake Reschen is an absolute exception in the South Alps.

The north wind blasts nearly without interruption with blue skies over the Lake Reschen and it seems like the winter fun without a lift on the enormously large surface without obstacles is virtually limitless under the sunshine.

Experience this inexpressible and intoxicating exhilaration and get a proper adrenaline kick while you snowkite on the Lake Reschen in the Venosta Valley! Snow, some wind and a helping of courage and you’re off down the ice.
